1.   Valid Passport-If your passport will expire less than 6 months from your planned arrival in the United States, or is damaged, or you do not have a page for a visa, please get a new passport before your interview.

2.   One Photograph --- Two inches square color photograph, less than 6 months old, against a white background, full frontal view. 

3.   Original Bank Receipt for Application Fee

4.   Completed SEVIS Form --- Form I-20 for F2

5.   Proof of relationship to the family member in the U.S., for example:

1)    Marriage certificate in case you are a dependent spouse

2)    Birth certificate if you are a dependant child below 21 years of age 

3)    Marriage photographs or wedding invitations

4)    Photos taken together

5)    Correspondence

6)    Any other relevant documentation

6.   Proof of legal status of the family member in the U.S., for example:

1)    Photocopies of family member’s passport and US visa

2)    I-20 form for students

7.   Evidence of sufficient funds for your support, for example:

1)    I-20 form for F-1 students,

2)    tax returns

3)    W-2 tax forms,

4)    Bank statements,

5)    Affidavit of support (I-134 form)

6)    Evidence of health insurance covering dependents

8.    Evidence that you will depart when the student's education is completed

1)   Family relationships, for example,

a.       ID card of the applicant and his parents

b.       Household registration the applicant and his parents

c.       Work certificate

d.       Family photos

2)   Evidence of Finances

a.       Real estate ownership

b.       Bank deposit

c.       Family business certificate

d.       Stock

e.       Parents' income statement

3)   Career potential

a.       Better career opportunity for the applicant in his or her home country, letters from employers or labor market experts

b.       Applicant's affidavit

c.       Letter from the employer

d.       Letter from the prospective employer

4)   Community ties, such as any organization he or she belongs to, including religious organizations or social groups.

5)   Other evidence of nonimmigrant intent

 

Note Please bring all applicable documents (originals plus copies if noted) on this checklist. Visas are often approved the same day for applicants who are prepared with these documents. Visas will not be approved until applicants submit all required documents.
